Austin's pizza identity got imported, then made local: Detroit-style, not New York or Chicago, thanks to a trailer that opened on East 6th in East Austin back in 2011 before spreading across the city. The tell of a serious Detroit pie is the caramelized cheese lace at the crust's edge — order it and check. South Congress does a respectable New York slice, but it's playing an away game.
